The Best Golf Practice Mats 2022
Last updated: July 2022
If you are looking to practice your swing and ball-striking at home in the garden or in a studio, then a good golf mat is essential. Not only will it help protect your lawn while you hit into a practice net, it can also give you experience of hitting from realistic lies – which is not always the case on your lawn.
Golf practice mats are specially designed to mimic the feel of a real golf course and they let golfers hit any club with confidence in the comfort of their own home.
Some also come with built-in rubber tees so you can hit drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and long irons off the tees.
Whether you need a good golf mat to pair up with a garden practice net, a home golf simulator or even to take out on the course with you during the winter, we’ve identified the best mats for you to consider below.

FIBERBUILT FLIGHT DECK
The Fiberbuilt Flight Deck is a very affordable hitting mat that is portable enough to use in the garden and take out on the course or to the range with you.
It is made from the same artificial turf as the Fiberbuilt's renowned studio mats, which has been designed to avoid turf shock - giving you the feeling of making a divot rather than bouncing the club off a hard mat.
The Flight Deck sits in a heavy-duty base with bumpers to protect your clubs and an adjustable tee, so you can hit whatever shot with whatever club you want.
SWINGTURF GOLF MAT
The SwingTurf Golf Mat was designed following feedback from thousands of golfers.
Its main aim is to provide the best balance between forgiveness and a real-life fairway feel for golfers when they are practicing in their garden.
The mat uses a special fiber system to allow you to strike down with irons and wedges with minimum vibration.
It also provides accurate feedback so golfers can better understand, diagnose and fix your bad shots.
SKLZ PURE PRACTICE MAT
The durable and high-quality SKLZ Pure Practice Mat features three different lengths of cut to help you practice the different types of ball lies and shots you face on the course.
The tee turf is designed to hold tees securely so you can practice your drivers, while the fairway cut helps you simulate iron and wedges shots in your garden.
There's also a first cut rough turf so you can practice your recovery shots from deeper lies.
CHAMPKEY GOLF MAT
The Champkey Golf Mat is one of the best golf practice mats that offers a realistic feeling of hitting off real grass.
The artificial grass isn't too long or too heavy as it is on some other mats, it's also a good weight so it won't fly up on you in the wind or when you hit the ball.
The mat id designed to sit flat on the ground and the compact size means it is easy to store and transport and doesn't take up too much space on the lawn.
Despite its small size, there is plenty of room for the club to hit the ball and then the mat to create the feel of a proper iron divot.
